After Taking Part in a Charity Boxing Match Last Week, Conor McGregor Has Been Accused of Throwing a Cheap Shot by His Amateur Opponent… Check Out the Clip Below…

Conor McGregor has made a lot of noise about his skills as a boxer. He was a decent amateur back in the day in Ireland, before crossing codes over to MMA where he made his living and ultimately his legacy as Ireland’s most famous sportsperson.

The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion is almost at the end of his six-month suspension for his role in the UFC 229 post-fight brawl. That hasn’t stopped him getting some work in, as he took part in Crumlin boxing club’s Good Friday fight night last week.

That’s where McGregor first entered into combat sports and he showed his willingness to give back by taking part in the charity event. However, there’s been some bad blood spilt with his opponent on the night, Michael McGrane bitter over a ‘cheap shot’ thrown at the start of the fight.

Cheap Shot

McGrane is an amateur boxer and works fulltime as an electrician. He’s a former juvenile national champion in Ireland and it must have been surreal for him to get to step into the ring against one of the most successful fighters on the planet. However, he’s definitely not starstruck by ‘The Notorious’ and complained to TMZ about a cheap shot thrown at the start.

“It was the cheapest shot I ever caught in me life. You touch gloves at the start of the fight and you’re meant to go back to your corner, but Conor never went back to his corner. Conor leapt at me with a left hook. He caught me flush in the eye with his clinical left hook. But you can’t let that get to you, man, we still had a fight after that. Conor McGregor hit me a cheap shot in his own hometown.”

In the end, the fight was judged to be a draw, so McGrane may calm down and be glad that he got a chance to go viral.

Skills

One of McGregor’s favourite things to do is to tease his fans about a potential comeback. He’s hinted about potentially pursuing further fights in boxing. Although he lost to Floyd Mayweather, he also made his fortune. That’s the place to make money. However, one of the two pound-for-pound best fighters on the planet, Terence Crawford believes that the Irishman would struggle to beat the undisputed women’s middleweight champion, Clarissa Shields.

“Man, I’m gonna tell you this. Claressa’s been getting in the ring, sparring men since I’ve known her,” Crawford told TMZ. “I feel like she could get in the ring and give anybody problems. I don’t know. Conor McGregor is a man, but at the same time, she would do well against him.”

Return

Will McGregor ever return to MMA or boxing? The former is more likely because let’s be real: he’s better at it. It remains to be seen what will happen to the Irishman’s career, with a number of legal issues outstanding, including sexual assault allegations.

Wherever he goes, the drama follows.
