Conor McGregor’s workout for the media today provided a big glimpse into his game plan for August 26…

Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor-A fight that still sounds strange yet very real. Combining the world’s most popular combat sports, MayMac pits boxing against MMA in a way we’ve never seen before.

For those making the big bucks from this bout, the result really means little. For boxing though, this could be crippling should McGregor pull off a win. And so we come to the point of the article, of the fight as a whole.

Does ‘The Notorious’ have the boxing to compete with Mayweather, a surgically precise boxing great?

Fighting is very different from boxing, leading to many believing this will be a complete landslide for Mayweather…

The Circus is Officially in Town

However you look at it, this fight is not much more than a shameless money grab. Still, we have the idea of a total novice to boxing, although a fantastic MMA fighter, going up against arguably the best pure boxer of this generation.

Up until now, we’ve had a few short clips of McGregor working the bags, and some controversial images of sparring. Yesterday it was Mayweather’s typically cagey media workout, and today it was McGregor’s turn.

What does this mean in terms of McGregor’s improvement to face Mayweather? It’s hard to tell, the gap in skill could be so vast that Mayweather steamrolls the UFC star, then again who knows.

As the spectacle draws closer, Mayweather’s assistant trainer Nate Jones added some fuel to the first. Jones said that Mayweather will be on the offensive like never before:

“This Will Be a Fight, Not a Boxing Match”-Nate Jones

“We’re going to fight him,” Nate Jones, assistant trainer of Floyd Mayweather, told the Los Angeles Times. “… We know this is something new for him. So, Floyd’s going to turn the gas on early. We’re going to fight him. We don’t think he can go past four rounds. So we’ll burn the gas out of him (early), make it a tough fight for him, let him see some things he’s never … hit him with some good body shots.

“I don’t want to give the whole game plan, but we got some things different.”

“His head movement is going to confuse McGregor,” Jones said. “His relaxation is going to confuse him. Making him fight at a high rate early is going to surprise him. We’re not going to box him; we’re going to fight him.

“We know we’re going to get his tank blown early. We’re going to let him see things, show him all that stuff early. Let him see what he’s been dealing with, make him more confused. Because he’s new to this, and he ain’t ready for this.”
