‘Mad Dog’ the Chinese MMA Fighter is Back at it Again… He’s on a One Man Crusade Against Bogus ‘Kung Fu Masters’ And He’s Brutally Claimed Another Scalp…
If you’re a fan of combat sports you’ve probably come across Xu Xiadong before. Better known by his nickname ‘Mad Dog,’ this Chinese MMA fighter rose to internet infamy when he fought and crushed a self-professed ‘Tai Chi Master’. This created outrage in his native China, where traditional martial artists maintain a strong foothold over modern interpretations of combat systems.
Well, Xiadong has claimed another victim. This time it’s a 56-year-old by the name of Tien Ye – whose name can be translated as ‘Wild Fury.’ Ye is allegedly a master of Kung Fu and was reportedly approached by a Chinese tycoon to fight Mad Dog in a kickboxing match. He was offered the equivalent of $4.4 million if he won, but was guaranteed to walk away with $400,000.
You can check out the wild footage of this total mismatch below. It’s pretty grim viewing if you’re a fan of the Kung Fu master’s.

Carnage
This was a totally one-sided affair, televised on Chinese national TV. It started off with Mad Dog actually allowing the 56-year-old to throw a few strikes, but he had no respect for the older man’s power. That’s when the MMA fighter decided to open up with a few leg and body kicks to his opponent.
He then unloaded with some punches, landing at will. He smashed up the older man’s nose, with the referee calling a break to the contest. ‘Mad Dog’ decided to theatrically lie against the ring ropes. It’s definitely not the most comfortable viewing, but hey, they’re both consenting adults.

Finish
Ye’s face was a bloody mess when they went back at it again. He was hilariously bandaged up and the pair faced off again – although it looked like the ‘Kung Fu Master’ was blind in one eye because of the botched bandage job. Meanwhile, ‘Mad Dog’ was showboating to the crowd.
To his credit, Ye did manage to land one hard punch, but it only caused ‘Mad Dog’ to respond with some vicious leg kicks. Then in the second round – yes it went there – he stepped it up and finally finished the fight with a flying knee to the body of his chubby opponent. This could literally only happen in China, but hey, it was still a better fight than Tito Ortiz v Chuck Liddell III.

History
Xu Xiadong has become notorious in China for his vendetta against so-called fake traditional martial arts masters. He first became internet famous after battering a ‘Tai Chi Master’ in Chengdu, back in 2017. You can watch a clip of that fight above.
Traditional martial arts definitely still do have a place in modern society. They’re excellent for fitness, self-confidence and discipline. However, instructors have a responsibility to their students to be real about what they’re teaching them. You’re highly unlikely to be able to beat an accomplished MMA fighter if you’re a black belt in Aikido for example. But that doesn’t mean practising Aikido is a waste of time. It’s all about what you want to achieve.
