This Was Quite Simply Spectacular… Kailan Hall Take a Bow… You’ve Just Achieved What is Believed to be the First Flying Knee to Superman Punch KO in the History of Professional MMA…

There is nothing better in combat sports than seeing a spectacular knockout. The crowd is baying for blood, like spectators in a coliseum full of gladiators. I guess we haven’t changed that much in 2000 years. But seriously, while we can definitely appreciate a great technical submission like a rear-naked choke, or an armbar, there’s something about smashing your opponent into oblivion that’s so much more exciting.

The majority of finishes in MMA are by TKO. Normally the opponent will get dropped and then swarmed with ground and pound, forcing the referee to intervene. So when a straightforward one punch/kick KO does happen, it’s something to savor.

That happened this weekend at Legacy Fighting Alliance 51 in Fresno, California. Middleweights Adam Fuggit and Kailan Hill were fighting it out and as you can see from the video below, it had one of the most spectacular finishes you will ever see.

Vicious

This is one of the most incredible athletic finishes we’ve ever seen. Hill was fighting in just his third ever bout in professional MMA – but he’s slowly building a very interesting portfolio. Just a minute and 31 seconds into the first round, Hill sent Fuggit to the shadow realm in style.

He ran and jumped with a flying knee to superman combo, that instantly KOed his opponent. One of the rarest finishes in MMA, we genuinely don’t think it’s happened in the pro game before at all. What a way to extend your winning record to 3-0.

Unusual

The reason that finishes of this style are so rare is because of the lack of stability in the strike. When both feet are grounded, it’s much easier to strike your opponent from a flat base. It’s incredible that he didn’t lose power after throwing the knee or that his momentum didn’t bring him out of control.

There are so many variables in this game, that one misstep could have caused him to land wrong and this fight might have ended very differently. It didn’t though, instead, we got what was a bonafide highlight reel moment. Incredible.

Growing

Legacy Fighting Alliance is one of the most exciting MMA promotions in the US today. Alongside the likes of Titan FC and The Professional Fighter’s League, it basically serves as a gateway to Bellator and the UFC.

The likes of Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko, Ray Borg, Eryk Anders, Tim Means, and Sage Northcutt are just some of the most notable luminaries to come through the gates of LFA. It’s great to see MMA growing so spectacularly.
