During his rise, Conor McGregor was known as Mystic Mac mainly because of his bold predictions. It was kind of eerie that most of his fight predictions came true especially his fight with Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo. It was one of the most accurate predictions in UFC title fights.
So in his trilogy with Dustin Poirier, he has predicted on how he will finish the fight and what round it will land. Of course, it is also a mental aspect that a fighter needs to picture on how he will win. As they say, the mind is man’s most powerful weapon. Will Mystic Mac be back on the trilogy fight?
What is also interesting is, he is aiming for the iconic front kick to face. Anderson Silva’s signature finish against Vitor Belfort was the first to execute this move and then Lyoto Machida did the crane kick against Randy Couture and also front kicked Belfort as well
In his first fight with Dustin Poirier, he predicted that the fight will end inside one round via knockout and it did happen. Hence in the post fight Octagon interview, he gave himself the nickname “Mystic Mac” and that is where it all began.
McGregor has also gave hints that he may bring back the bad boy character in their trilogy where he would trash talk his opponents. It is one of McGregor’s best tools to disrupt them in their game plan and emotions come fight night. One example was Jose Aldo where he just went under tremendous pressure in their fight.
Till this day, it is considered as one of the greatest run in UFC history. He just knocked out then number 1 pound for pound fighter and was undefeated for 10 years in just 13 seconds. It gave one the most jaw-dropping moments and made McGregor known to everyone’s radar.
It will truly be astonishing if McGregor goes on another title run, considering how successful he is outside the Octagon. He does not need the money anymore and yet still fights. Many fans question whether his hunger to win is still there or not.
