In his prime, Wanderlei Silva was like a wrecking ball. The Brazilian MMA fighter was a savage during his time with PRIDE. There many superlatives that could be used to describe him including ferocious and vicious. In short, a fight with ‘The Axe Murderer was not a fun experience.
Despite being on the wrong side of 40, Silva is still fighting. After competing for Bellator, Silva is moving to BKFC. He has experience of bare-knuckle fighting from his Valetudo days. But he has shown signs of CTE which has left many fans critical of his decision. However, at the end of the day, it’s his body.
Don’t worry though, when Silva finally retires there will still be a member of his family out there beating people up for a living. His son Thor – of course, he’s called Thor – has just made his Muay Thai debut. Check out his brutal finish below.

Brutal
As you can see from the clip above, this fight was short and sweet. It was done and dusted in 30 seconds. Basically, Thor walked forward and threw bombs. He landed on his opponent who brought up his hands to defend himself. But that left his body exposed. Then Thor launched a venomous body kick into his victim’s midsection.
The other fighter was still on his feet but didn’t want to continue. The referee waved it off and Thor got his first win in Muay Thai. Like father, like son.

Inspired
Needless to say, the younger Silva sees his father as a massive inspiration. Of course, he does. During his prime, Wanderlei was one of the most intimidating fighters on the planet. Thor was heavily influenced by his father to go forth in his own fighting career.
“I’m all the time training, after which someday I thought to myself, ‘Why am I training? Oh, I need to fight, I need to be like my father,’” Silva told MMA Combating (translated). “My dad inspired me to fight.”
Let’s hope he knows when to hang up the gloves when the time comes. Unlike his dad.

Rematch Time?
Silva Sr. is excited to make his BKFC debut in 2020. In short, the one man he wants to fight is Vitor Belfort. The pair have previous from a hundred years ago. However, as Belfort is signed to ONE Championship, that fight is unlikely to happen. To sum up, Silva said:
“Here’s the challenge I wanted to have at Bare Knuckle. I sent one of the promoters an audio clip. They’re offering quite the amount, an impressive amount of cash. more than what I’m making. I told them I really wanted to fight, but against a particular guy.
I would accept if I could face Vitor Belfort. Bare knuckles. five two-minute rounds, only boxing. I want to see if he’s a man or if he’ll run. We found the right place to settle one of the sport’s oldest rivalries. What’s up, Vitor? Are you in or are you going to run?”
