UFC light-heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier doesn’t see a bright future for Conor McGregor, at least not in his next fight…

Everyone is talking about the big money fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. So many intriguing story lines surround this rivalry, which when it started was a highly unlikely one.

Moving from banter to rumours, and this year gaining a ton of steam, it’s commonly accepted that Mayweather vs. McGregor is happening. Just this week, UFC president Dana White and McGregor himself confirmed the Irish star had signed the contract.

Conor McGregor will make the biggest payday of any MMA fighter, and he won’t be fighting in the UFC when he does it…

It’s On!

Speaking to The Mac Life, Conor McGregor gave a statement on the historic signing of the Mayweather contract:

“It is an honour to sign this record breaking deal alongside my partners Zuffa LLC, The Ultimate Fighting Championship and Paradigm Sports Management,” McGregor said.

“The first, and most important part of this historic contract has now officially been signed off on. Congratulations to all parties involved. We now await Al Haymon and his boxer’s signature in the coming days.”

Daniel Cormier, current UFC light-heavyweight champion, is not so optimistic about McGregor’s chances against Floyd Mayweather…

DC Says McGregor Will Lose…

As transcribed by LowKickMMA, UFC light-heavyweight champ Daniel Cormier gives his prediction:

“He can actually go and fight Mayweather. He will lose. But the rest of these guys, they will get no money, and they will get slept.

“Look, James Toney fought in the UFC, and we had no problem showing the footage over and over again of James Toney getting beat by Randy Couture. These boxing promoters will constantly video of the heavyweight champion of the world Stipe Miocic getting slept by Anthony Joshua, or Jimi Manuwa, c’mon Jimi! Getting slept by David Haye.

These dudes will get slept, it’s going to be embarrassing, so no, it is not good for the UFC. Conor, hat’s off to you, make your money, but don’t get slept! Which might happen to ’em.”

Cormier Says He Would Get KO’d Too

Not to cast his opinions solely on everybody else, Daniel Cormier answered a fan question on Twitter. The follower asked how DC thought he’d fare against heavyweight boxing boss Anthony Joshua.

This was Cormier’s response:

Whichever way you look at it, Daniel Cormier does not see much hope for MMA fighters, even himself, against professional boxing champions. When the payday for McGregor is somewhere around $75 million, does it really matter?

Most people would willingly get knocked out cold twice for a minute fraction of that figure.
