No.1: Joe Rogan

UFC color commentator Joe Rogan has many strings to his bow, from hosting one of the most popular podcasts in the world, to being a famous stand-up comedian and actor, but his first love was martial arts.

In his teenage years Rogan was obsessed with TaeKwonDo, earning his black belt by 15 and regularly competing in tournaments, winning four championships in Massachusetts and a US Open tournament, while also trying kickboxing and judo too.

Years later he’d start training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning a black belt under Jean Jacques Machado using the gi, and then a no-gi black belt from Eddie Bravo at 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu.

Rogan’s knowledge and enthusiasm for MMA eventually led to him becoming the UFC’s color commentator and he’s become an indespensible member of the team over the past 16 years.

Rogan still trains MMA regularly and there are many within the fighting community who will vouch that his skills are the real deal.

In fact, UFC legend Georges St-Pierre once asked Rogan to help hone his own technique, and after witnessing his ability first-hand declared that, “Joe Rogan’s kicks are the most powerful I have ever seen!”

However, Rogan is almost certainly too old to consider getting into the cage at this stage in his life, while there is also one other catch.

“I would break that drug test like a hammer hitting a carnival bell in a bugs bunny cartoon,” Rogan once joked on his podcast.
