No.7: Guy Ritchie
Famous Hollywood director Guy Ritchie is known to be an avid fan of martial arts and started training in Shotokan Karate at just 7-years-old – a discipline he’d later get his now-ex wife Madonna to try.
Richie also studied Judo and would go on to earn his black belt, though his true passion may well be for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which he started training with Mauricio Gomez and then his son Roger Gracie in London well over a decade ago, and in 2015 he finally achieved his black belt under Renzo Gracie.
Statham is a believer in Ritchie’s ability, telling CombatBear that, “He has a better chance of achieving good results [than me]….he works hard, he’s a good fighter.”
Ritchie is also known to be a UFC fan, having attended shows in the past, while he admitted to having taken inspiration from Conor McGregor when conducting the fight scenes for his ‘King Arthur’ movie last year in 2017, even going as far as to offer him a role in the film.
