Jorge Santiago

Santiago’s first stint in the UFC in 2006 lasted just half a year. During which time he’d earn a KO win in his debut over Justin Levins. He was then knocked out in back-to-back fights against Chris Leben and Alan Belcher. Undeterred, Santiago would go on to win Strikeforce’s one-night middleweight grand-prix in 2007 with stoppages against Sean Salmon and Trevor Prangley.

Building on that momentum, Santiago signed with Sengoku and won their middleweight grand-prix in 2008. He then seized the middleweight title with a victory over Kazuo Misaki and defended the belt twice. With 11 wins from 12 fights, the UFC re-signed him. But unfortunately wins were just as hard to come by in his second stint. A KO loss to Brian Stann and decision defeat against Demian Maia sent Santiago crashing out of the UFC again in 2011. A couple of wins in the TFC promotion gave Santiago one last chance in the UFC in 2013. But a decision loss to Gunnar Nelson saw him quickly bow out with a 1-5 Octagon record.
