Brett Rogers

In June of 2011, heavyweight fighter Brett Rogers lost to Josh Barnett in the quarter-finals of Strikeforce’s heavyweight grand-prix, and just over a week later he would hit the headlines again after being arrested for beating his wife.

During the terrifying incident, Rogers reportedly strangled his wife and then chased her outside to their backyard, where he repeatedly punched her in the face, causing her to lose a tooth in addition to being left with a golf-ball sized lump above her left eyebrow, a bump above her right eyebrow, another on her forehead and injuries to her ears and jaw.

Despite Rogers wife then attempting to protect her husband by claiming she had just fallen, he was subsequently charged with assault in the third degree, domestic assault by strangulation and pattern of stalking conduct, along with endangerment of a child.

Rogers was eventually sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years probation after pleading guilty to third-degree assault, though the other charges against him were dismissed.
