Cody East
Cody East’s chequered past put him under the microscope when he first joined the UFC in 2016, as he’d once been charged with rape (later acquitted), while he’d also been in trouble over sexual assault charges and spent three years in prison for child abuse and battery.
Nonetheless, after an independent investigation East was allowed to compete in the UFC and lost twice before being released.
Only two months later, East was back in trouble again after getting into an argument with his girlfriend that lasted the best part of a day before she finally locked him out of their home, fearing he was going to hit her.
East eventually broke back in and cornered her in the bathroom, kicking her legs, kneeing her in the head and slapping her face, before dragging her by the hair towards the front door and threatening to kill her 10-year-old son if she didn’t leave with him.
He was then witnessed dragging her against her will into his truck, though the police showed up before they left and observed the woman crying and in the midst of a physical struggle.
East was subsequently charged with aggravated battery (greater bodily harm), aggravated assault and false imprisonment.
