Nine-fight MMA veteran Dan LaSavage had only just moved into his new home in Wisconsin with his three-year-old daughter on the night that he came face-to-face with an intruder.
LaSavage put his daughter to bed and then heard a strange noise in the house. After going to investigate he quickly discovered a burgler wearing blue latex gloves rifling through their belongings.
The man appeared to be on drugs and was yelling incoherently as he suddenly charged LaSavage, whose mixed martial arts instincts came to his rescue, enabling him to lock up a standing guillotine choke that led to his attacker slumping unconscious within seconds.
LaSavage then dragged the assailant out onto his balcony and took pictures, then managed to keep him pinned down until the police arrived.
“I did beat him up, but I beat him with mercy,” LaSavage admitted later. “I just wanted to make sure he wasn’t going to do what he did here, and he’d never come back. I guarantee he’ll never come back.”
Officers on the scene arrested the 47-year-old burgler, who had a knife and crack pipe in his possession.
