Khabib Nurmagamedov is Talking Trash And it’s Starting to Get a Little Bit Scary…
Is there a more frightening fighter in the lower weight classes than Khabib Nurmagamedov? He’s riding an unbeaten streak that stretches back 26 fights – an incredible record in MMA. 10 of those have come in the UFC.
His brand of combat sambo just seems impossible to solve. We’ve seen him shut down elite strikers like Edson Barboza and Michael Johnson, dragging them down to mats. Then he forces them up against the cage, sits on top of them, controls their bodies and absolutely rains down a brutal striking hell on top of them. It’s demoralizing and highly damaging.
This is what he’s promising to do to Conor McGregor when the pair eventually faces off in their expected fight this year. He’s got very dark plans for McGregor’s face and you wouldn’t want to be the Irishman, the way Khabib is talking. The Eagle is out for scalps.
In a recent interview with Canada’s TSN, Khabib did not hold back. He wants revenge against the Notorious for the craziness of last April, and he’s going to get it. He said:
“I can’t believe we’re going to fight, because I really want this guy. Make him humble, a little bit teach him, and not only smash but change his face. I want to change his face. Of course, with face I can change his mind, too.”
“To be honest, inside my heart I am a little bit happy about this. Because if he goes to jail, what happens? How I can catch him? How? Only inside the cage.”
The Dagestani fighter has promised an exciting performance. He broke down exactly how he plans on beating McGregor. He wants to totally outclass him, break him down, and leave him exhausted so that everyone can see who is the superior fighter. He said:
“I want a big drama show. A little bit talk with him, tell him, ‘I know how we have to do this.’ I have a little bit of a plan. Make him tired, make him look bad. Strong, he’s very dangerous. Everybody knows this. I know this, too. If you think I’m going to stay with him like I stayed with Iaquinta with my Muhammad Ali jab? No way, brother. No way. I’m going to try to take him down. Even if he defend my takedown, he’s going to be tired.”
“How can we fight after this fight when I change his face? Even if I have a chance for a submission or choke, I’m going to keep punishing, talk with him, enjoy inside the cage. I can’t wait.”
Wait and See
This fight is impossible to predict. While Khabib has the advantage if it goes to ground, McGregor is an elite striker beyond which he’s never fought before. Their skill sets are almost in total opposition to each other. It’s the classic war of striker against a grappler.
