Brent Alvarez & Billy Denney
Professional MMA fighter Brent Alvarez and his student Billy Denney were in Los Angeles for a tournament in November of 2011 when they stepped out of a motel elevator and straight into a robbery in progress.
Just at that moment a man was holding the motel clerk at gunpoint while demanding that he hand over money from the till.
When the clerk shouted at the two MMA fighters for help the suspect attempted to hide his loaded 9mm handgun in the bag he was stashing the stolen cash in, but despite the danger Alvarez and Denney moved in to prevent him from fleeing the scene.
Alvarez made sure the suspect was unable to go for the gun and then took him down and applied a rear-naked choke, while Denney and the clerk also helped to ensure he wasn’t going to be going anywhere until the police arrived.
