6. Brendan Schaub
Another former footballer, Brendan Schaub is definitely one of the most successful people on this list – at least since retiring from MMA. He played for the University of Colorado before getting signed by the Utah Blaze of the AFL. He also played on the Buffalo Bills practice squad.
However, Schaub became disillusioned by football and started training fulltime in Nate Marquardt’s gym. After becoming a Golden Gloves boxing champion and BJJ purple belt, he transitioned to MMA. He’d get his shot at the big time on season 10 of TUF and would fight eleven times for the promotion.
