
5. Sean McCorkle
So many fighters on this list only started training to keep fit. Sean McCorkle is definitely in that category. The former UFC veteran had played basketball in junior college and had started his own business. Then he ran into Chris Lytle and Jake O’Brien, who pushed him into MMA.

In 2005, he’d make his MMA debut, submitting Mark Hunt by armbar. That was as good as it got for McCorkle, who would only fight three times for the promotion. He’d go on to compete under the KSW and Bellator banners, even making the jump up to super-heavyweight.
