There are 2 possible things that can happen to a fighter who loses in such a high profile way:

  • They lose their confidence and are never the same again
  • They lose their over-confidence, identify their weaknesses and become an even stronger fighter

If Conor had lost his confidence he wouldn’t have pleaded for the rematch to be made. The Conor McGregor we see at UFC 202 will be better, more focused, and better prepared than the one we saw at UFC 196.
