1. The Strikeforce Nashville Brawl
Of all the things one can remember about Strikeforce, its likely that this was the most memorable event.
Jake Shields, of the mild-mannered Cesar Gracie team in California (mentioned frequently in this article), had just successfully defended his Strikeforce Middleweight Championship against Dan Henderson. Shields was in the middle of his post-fight interview when Jason “Mayhem” Miller decided to get a little extra on-camera time.
When he’s not getting arrested for domestic assault and resisting arrest, Jason Miller dabbles in MMA. In fact he fought on this card, knocking out Tim Stout in the 1st round. Miller interrupted the post-fight interview to ask for a rematch, and despite things like this happening often, the Cesar Gracie team took offence to it. The feeling amongst their camp was that Miller did not give Shields his moment after his big win over Henderson.
The Cesar Gracie team and Miller got into a brawl as the commentators expressed their embarrassment, and ring announcers had to remind everyone that they were live on TV.
It was everything some people hate about MMA, and everything some people love about MMA.
