The debate about mixed martial arts vs. boxing was reignited last week when rumours ran wild about Conor McGregor fighting Floyd Mayweather in the squared circle. Although clearly very different sports, boxing and MMA once again became the subject of much media attention after these crazy reports.

What made this rumour so frustrating to some is that McGregor is tied in to an apparently iron clad contract with the UFC, yet no-one directly connected to the situation would deny these rumours.

Then Conor McGregor posted this to Instagram…

Of course everyone, including UFC president Dana White and many credible media sources shot down this fiasco as false, but what about Floyd Mayweather and co.?

When asked at a recent meda scrum, ‘Money’ Mayweather went as far as confirming he was in talks to fight a professional mixed martial artist. Nuts, right? Even his dad, Floyd Mayweather Sr. said it was happening.

Was there some loophole in the UFC contract that Zuffa were unaware of? Potentially, or maybe ‘The Notorious’ and McGregor were playing games, but everybody is talking about this fight right now.
