Josh Emmett won his UFC debut by split decision after stepping in on only 4 days notice, but he did not come out of the fight completely unscathed.
Emmett took on Jon Tuck in a lightweight bout at UFC Fight Night 87. The undefeated UFC newcomer outpointed Tuck for the majority of the fight, until a spinning kick glanced off of Emmett’s left hand in round 3. Emmett looked down at his hand briefly before continuing to fight. It became obvious as the fight continued that something was wrong with the hand.
The referee intervened to check the injury, but Emmett said that he wished to continue. Tuck came forward with an onslaught of punches and kicks to finish the fight, but Emmett was able to survive until the final bell. The Team Alpha Male fighter was awarded the victory by split decision. He held out his left hand and showed the severely broken finger to the camera. The bone was clearly visible and sticking out from the skin. View the graphic image below.
After the fight, a video was shared on Instagram by UFC President Dana White. The short clip contained a very up close and personal look at the broken finger. This is quite a bit more graphic than the image. View the video below.

The former West Coast Fighting Championship Lightweight Title holder has finally arrived to the biggest promotion in the world. Emmett remains undefeated and is now 10-0 after winning his UFC debut.
He has been waiting for a call up to the UFC for a long long time. Emmett tried out for the Ultimate Fighter Season 22, did not make the cut despite having a recent victory over one of the final 32 contestants. Emmett has been highly touted by Team Alpha Male coach Urijah Faber, who said Emmett has the potential to become a world champion.
