Well, that would certainly make Mayweather vs. McGregor the most exciting fight of 2017…

Having gone through a 20-year boxing career without suffering a single loss, Floyd Mayweather’s boxing skills are unquestionable. Believed by many to be the best defensive boxer of this generation, Mayweather puts his skills to the test yet again on August 26.

Seeking his 50th straight win, ‘Money’ takes on UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor. As surreal as that statement seems, it’s real, and worth a lot of money. According to some faces in the fight game, money is all this fight is worth.

Surely pitting a mixed martial artist in a boxing match against boxing’s best hasn’t drawn criticism?!? (Sarcasm level +1000)

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor will settle their bad blood on August 26…

MayMac’s Worst Critic

Yes, you guessed it, Oscar De La Hoya is back with his hate for Mayweather vs. McGregor. Can we blame him? The former 10-division champion has his own promotion’s mega fight going down the month after MayMac.

During his most recent discussion on the money fight, ODLH had some blunt points to raise. H/T News.ABC:

Oscar De La Hoya says don’t believe the hype…

De La Hoya’s ‘Advice’

“No. No chance,” De La Hoya said flatly when asked by TMZ Sports if he believes McGregor can stun Mayweather in their boxing match. I wish he would, but he can’t,” the former 10-division world champion added. “If I couldn’t get a chance in, come on.”

“You think Conor McGregor, in my prime, is better than me?” De La Hoya added, rhetorically. Go for the body,” he said. “Or a flying kick to the head.”

There’s been a lot of discussion bout whether McGregor will be able to restrain himself under the boxing rules set. According to Dana White, if McGregor does start throwing kicks or elbows, his life will be essentially over:

McGregor’s Life Would Be Destroyed, Says Dana

“He would be sued beyond belief if he does anything other than hit Floyd Mayweather with his hands to the head and body,” White said during the press tour, as transcribed by Keith Idec for BoxingScene.com. “It would be a very bad – that can’t happen. That can’t happen. There’s actually language in the contract that that can’t happen.”

“If you look at Mayweather, you can include this fight, his last three fights and the amount of money he’s brought in, right, when you go to court any lawsuit is always about damages. And the damages on Mayweather if something like that happened would be massive. That can’t happen.

“Forget about the contract. He would just sue him. He would have a lawsuit against him that would be incredibly – I mean, it would destroy Conor’s life and Mayweather would win. Mayweather would win that lawsuit.”

“It can’t happen. It absolutely cannot happen. Listen, Conor is a bit of a wild man. But he likes money just as much as Floyd does. So if he wants Floyd to have all his money, that’s the way to do it.”
