The verbal back and forth just keeps getting better and better. “The Notorious” Conor McGregor fired the latest salvo in a war of words between the Irishman and boxing pound-for-pound great Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. ahead of their August 26th matchup. This time, McGregor took very obvious jabs at Mayweather’s past domestic violence issues. A well-known NBA star even jumped into the fray of things.
McGregor is set to face Mayweather on August 26th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. And observers are already projecting this blockbuster fight to be the richest of all. It may even surpass Mayweather-Pacquiao which shattered all boxing financial records in 2015.
Preparation for the monumental showdown
While the two fiery individuals continue trading insults in the media, they are both hard at work at preparing for the actual fight. While many fear the fight won’t be competitive, McGregor is at least doing what he needs to do in order to be successful. Photos of the Irishman which have emerged show him absolutely shredded, appearing to be in the best shape of his life.
If he has any shot at defeating Mayweather, known as boxing’s greatest defensive tactician, he will have to be physically ready to deal his great power, which comes from his monstrous left hand.
One boxer who has had a close look at McGregor’s skills is former welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi. Malignaggi says while McGregor may not be as technically skilled as Mayweather, he does have a sound gameplan.
“There’s a method to Conor McGregor’s madness,” said Malignaggi.
McGregor of course, plans to bring a highly unorthodox style of fighting into the ring with him. Mayweather in over 20 years as a professional boxer, has seen everything there is to see inside the boxing ring. McGregor will have to show him something different in order to be competitive.

McGregor channels CJ Watson
In a social media beef with Golden State Warriors Draymond Green, McGregor got into it with the Forward on Instagram after Green posted a picture of McGregor wearing a Warriors #23 jersey. Green of course dons the #23 for the reigning NBA champs.
“We rocking with Floyd bro not you… take that off bruh @thenotoriousmma,” Tweeted Green, alluding to the claim that the Warriors are siding with Mayweather.
However, in typical McGregor fashion, the UFC lightweight champion absolutely roasted Green in his response.
“That’s CJ Watson mate, I don’t know who the f**k you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school,” McGregor retorted in a following comment.
“Now ask yourself why I’m rocking CJ when I don’t know or give a f**k about basketball. I dribble heads off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here kid.”
If fans may recall, CJ Watson is actually rumored to be dating Mayweather’s former partner and mother of some of his children, Josie Harris. Mayweather is alleged to have abused Harris after learning of secret text messages between she and Watson.
Green tried to retort with another message of his own, but it won’t change the fact that McGregor absolutely SHREDDED him on Instagram.
