There have been some top contenders for KO of the year already this year but this head-kick knockout from the UK might just top the bill.
Sheldon Reid, an amateur fighter from Liverpool, fights out of Liverpool Vale Tudo and certainly looks to be one to watch out for. His head-kick KO of Julio Calcina at Shinobi Wars 7 was as perfectly executed, as it was brutal. This win takes Reid to 3-0 as an amateur and will likely see him turn pro very soon.
Reid stopped the SBG Manchester fighter in the first round and earned himself £1,200 bonus for the quickest finish, according to The Liverpool Echo. The knockout was eerily similar to Anderson Silva’s famous KO of Vitor Belfort at UFC 126.
There have been a few top KO’s this year including Yair Rodriguez’s switch kick KO of Andre Fili at UFC 197, Amir Elzhurkaev’s spinning back kick in his pro debut in Russia and Mark Hunt’s walk-away KO of Frank Mir earlier in the year.
