Conor McGregor Isn’t Impressed with Canelo’s Opponent Choices
“When you look at this Canelo [Alvarez] situation, it’s an era of cherry-picking,” McGregor harshly criticized.
The Irish fighter is no stranger to controversy in boxing circles.
Merely a couple of months ago, McGregor was heavily rumored to be in talks with Mayweather to stage a crossover bout between himself and boxing’s biggest attraction after McGregor bragged that he only needed five solid years of boxing training to beat the boxing superstar.
One not to shy away from his words, McGregor’s comments have however left a bad taste in the mouth for Canelo who responded with a grim warning.
“If he (McGregor) wants to try out boxing – anytime he wants. If he wants to come over to this side of the world and try boxing – anytime he wants – to see that it’s not as easy as he thinks,” Canelo told BoxingScene.
While McGregor has yet to announce what he plans to do after his UFC 202 victory over Nate Diaz a couple of weeks ago, Canelo is scheduled to fight Liam Smith on September 17 in Arlington, Texas.
