Middleweight boxing superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has had his name in and out of mixed martial arts in the past year. He had a well-publicized feud with “The Notorious” Conor McGregor a couple of months back.

While the Mexican fighter isn’t planning a switch to MMA soon, he did have a few words of advice for McGregor rival Nate Diaz regarding a potential third bout.

Canelo Alvarez Has A Few Words Of Advice For Nate Diaz

Diaz and McGregor have fought twice already. The first encounter saw Diaz shock the world, submitting McGregor with a rear naked choke. The rematch was more competitive as the two fighters battled to a five-round decision with McGregor taking the victory.

Canelo was recently on Fight Hub TV and gave his two cents on a potential rubber match between Diaz and McGregor.

“Well [Nate Diaz] is a professional in his sport. I think the only piece of advice is conditioning. If he had the necessary condition to finish off McGregor in the third after what happened in the second he would’ve finished him,” said Alvarez.

“But he came out in the second looking like he was fatigued. So I believe just conditioning but we also don’t know what’s happening behind the scene with him.”

Nate Diaz Still Wants Third McGregor Bout

Diaz fought valiantly in the second bout, but ultimately succumbed to McGregor’s more calculated approach to the fight.

“They say he had a messed up rib and knee. That’s why I tell you, we don’t know what’s going on in training and behind all that,” said Alvarez.

“If something happened to him, but if he would of brought the necessary conditioning to be able to finish him it would have been a different story.”

Canelo believes that in order to beat McGregor, an opponent has to be well-conditioned. He says this is the key to defeating the Irishman.

“Nothing other than he always prepares well, and like I told you, he’s a professional so it’s not my place to give him advice because it’s not my sport but I think from what I say, conditioning,” said Alvarez.

“Conditioning is the most important right there.”
