He has said during his interviews that he plans to become the undisputed super-middleweight champion by the end of the year. It may be difficult but doable especially for someone as big of a name as Canelo. He may potentially be the biggest name in all of Boxing.
No other fighter in the top rankings right now is fighting the best in their respective division as Canelo. He has faced the current best with names like Golovkin, Kovalev, and Smith. This is what is lacking in some division, fights like Crawford vs Spence need to happen soon but negotiations are what is making the fight not happen.
What boxer does not want to fight Canelo, fighting him guarantees the biggest payday possible. Callum Smith even took the fight on short notice because it gave him his biggest career fight purse. Canelo just moves the needle in the boxing game, kinda like Mayweather.
The other two big champions that Canelo will likely face if he wants to become undisputed is Caleb Plant and Billy Joe Saunders. Both fighters are undefeated champions but have not fought opponents that are good as Canelo’s past opponents.
Canelo also does not want to agree on a multiple-fight contract, instead, he chooses who he wants to fight and is usually a one-fight deal. There is no argument that promoters want Canelo to join their promotion, but Canelo is aware of how big his name is and can just become a free agent boxer, so he can choose his fights without needless hurdles.
