Man…this would be HUGE…
It wasn’t that long ago that Chris Weidman was a broke UFC prospect, struggling to make ends meet. At UFC 162, ‘The All-American’ was given the chance of a lifetime, to fight Anderson Silva.
Unbeaten in his UFC career, and the most dominant champion of the time, ‘The Spider’ was a huge betting favorite. In a moment dubbed the ‘left hook heard around the world,’ Weidman starched Silva in a crazy upset.
Although Weidman’s reign would only last two years and three defenses, he would defeat Silva again by TKO from a broken leg. After taking out Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort, Weidman lost the title to Luke Rockhold.
Third Time?
During his recent interview on The MMA Hour, h/t to LowKickMMA, Weidman revealed he’d been offered another Silva fight:
“The UFC was asking me if I would fight Anderson Silva. This was, I think three and a half weeks before that fight was going on. In Rio, and I’m just like ‘no’. I was still getting things checked out on my body, and going to different doctors.”
“I had just gone to Vegas, got it all checked out, I already beat the guy twice, I’m going to take a fight on short notice and head to his hometown to fight him? I’m like ‘yeah, that’s not happening. If you want me to fight Anderson again, bump it up a couple of weeks, if you want to do it in Nassau Colosseum or some other time, but I’m not going to do it on short notice.”
And what about the infamous Cyborg vs. Magana incident he witnessed? The former middleweight champ reveals Magana cried when Cyborg punched her, and instantly said she was calling the cops:

“Basically, Cyborg was going nuts on her, like all the words you can think of. She was screaming ‘Who the f**k do you think you are?’ and talking like this and blah, blah, blah.
“Magana was kind of quiet and shocked. She was kind of smiling, like a nervous smile. I was thinking, ‘Oh my God’ because she’s way smaller than Cyborg.”
“All of sudden (Magana) realizes what’s going on around her,” Weidman said. “She sees that there are a lot of people around and she sees cameras coming out. She grew some balls and all of sudden she starts cursing back at Cyborg. I was thinking, ‘That’s not smart.’”

What if She Knocked me Out?
“As soon as I saw (Magana) cursing back at Cyborg, I realize there is no one in between them and that something is going to go down,” Weidman said. “I started trying to break it up.
“I came in like, ‘C’mon, guys, let’s calm it down,’ and as soon (as I did that) ‘Cyborg’ just stops screaming at Magana, looks at me and says, ‘Don’t touch me.’
“I was like, ‘Alright, I’m good!’”
“So I backed up and then within a second (Cyborg) takes her hand and cracks Magana,” Weidman said. “Magana did a little shaky leg thing and right away she got teary-eyed. At least from what I heard, right away she started to say, ‘I’m calling the cops’.
“They were busting my balls but I have no shame. What am I going to do, step in there to Cyborg and say, ‘No, I will touch you’ and she kicks my ass? What am I gonna do kick her ass? Either way, I’m screwed.
“What if she knocked me out? I may as well just retire then.”
