Both heavyweights have a combined MMA record of only 19 fights will headline UFC Fight Night on 27 February. It will certainly be fight that guarantees fireworks as both are some of the best strikers in the division.
Gane is an undefeated fighter that has yet to face adversity inside the Octagon. Prior to his MMA career, he used to compete in Muay Thai where he finished with an undefeated record of 7-0, he certainly has an experience in combat sports, but is still considered new to the sport of MMA.
In the other corner, Jairzinho Rozenstruik is a former kickboxer that had 85 fights. He definitely has a lot of experience in the striking department. He only has one loss in the UFC and it was against the current title challenger, Francis Ngannou.
Even though Rozenstruik lost the fight against Ngannou, he still showed great counterstriking abilities, it was just that Ngannou has a granite chin. In slow motion, you can see Rozenstruik landing leg kicks, and countering Ngannou with at least two strikes until getting knocked out. Ngannou just has a freakish power with a durable chin.
The winner of the fight has a potential to be the future of the heavyweight division. Both fighters have the same last opponent which was former heavyweight champion, Junior Dos Santos. Both of them also finished Dos Santos by knockout, so it shows how good their striking is.
Even though they are new to the sport, they still show that they are levels above the lower contenders. It is because of their fighting background prior to joining the UFC, they had a lot of experience where they clearly have the striking advantage. Although Gane has also shown to have great grappling abilities by finishing some of his opponents via submission.
As of this moment, Gane is coming in as a decent favorite. It may be because of recency bias since he had an impressive win just a little over 2 months. He is also undefeated in his MMA career and has shown to dominate all his opponents.
Meanwhile Rozenstruik was losing all the rounds against Overeem until the arguable knockout punch in the last second.
Whoever the winner of the fight will shake the heavyweight rankings even more complicated. Ngannou is the current title challenger and Jon Jones will fight for the title next as per Dana White. It would make sense for the winner of the fight to face Derrick Lewis who is coming off a knockout win against Curtis Blaydes.
