While the two have continued to go back and forth it seemed in recent months, that talk of a fight had been squashed. According to The Sun however, the pair are close to agreeing terms on a potential billion dollar mega fight.
Of course the biggest obstacle to the fight would be McGregor’s contract with the UFC but with Dana White’s relationship with Floyd being the way it is, don’t be surprised for this to become a reality as the UFC bet on their man to be the first to defeat a boxing legend. The only way this fight could happen, would be if it was a co-promotion between Mayweather and the UFC, considering McGregor’s UFC contract.
The fight should it happen will take place in the squared circle and not the octagon and the pair would be strapping up 12oz gloves, not 4oz. Surely this would give Mayweather a massive edge but McGregor has openly said that while Mayweather would have an advantage in a boxing match he would have no problem testing himself against the undefeated former World Champion.
Mayweather is reported to be likely to earn close to $144 million and McGregor a reported $10 million for the fight.
Definitely one to watch closely, this would be the biggest fight in combat sports history.
