Conor Mcgregor posted a tweet that he wants Rafael Dos Anjos after his fight with Dustin Poirier. After winning the featherweight belt, Conor Mcgregor had a fight booked against Rafael Dos Anjos. It was the first attempt to be a double champ simultaneously in UFC history. Dos Anjos had to pull out due to an injury, and Nate Diaz was the substitute. Diaz wanted the fight at a catchweight, Mcgregor then agreed to fight at 170.
Dustin first, but I’m down for it all. Throwback to this classic lol.

The rumors of a potential fight with Dos Anjos and Mcgregor was even before the scheduled fight. It was at a press conference where an interviewer asked Mcgregor about plans on moving up in the future. Dos Anjos was set to face Cerrone and Mcgregor was about to face Aldo. It was where the “Red Panty Night” phrase started. Most fighters want to fight Mcgregor since it guarantees a big payday that is why it is called “red panty night”.
Most modern fans are now aware of what happened in the first Mcgregor vs. Diaz match. Mcgregor was having success in the early parts of the fight but got tired in the later rounds. Diaz is known to be a slow starter and durable, so stylistically it favors him as the fight progresses. Nate Diaz then landed a jab-straight combo on Mcgregor, which forced Mcgregor to shoot for a takedown. Diaz then capitalized for a guillotine choke but was unsuccessful. Mcgregor then gave out his back prompting Nate Diaz to a rear-naked choke. Due to the loss, Mcgregor wanted a rematch against Nate Diaz. In the rematch, it was one of the biggest PPV fights in UFC history. It was a five-round war where Conor made the adjustments of chopping the legs and conserving his energy for the later rounds. Mcgregor eventually won via majority decision. The leg kick strategy against Diaz was also used by Dos Anjos during their past fight.
Meanwhile, Rafael Dos Anjos was now set to defend his title against Eddie Alvarez. The lightweight division has to move and not wait for Mcgregor. Unfortunately, Dos Anjos lost his title against Alvarez which means he won’t face Mcgregor. His potential biggest payday would have been to face Mcgregor.
Tony Ferguson, who is the #3 ranked lightweight reacts to the situation by tweeting a post calling Mcgregor a coward. Tony Ferguson also won the interim lightweight title during Mcgregor’s absence. If anyone deserves to fight Mcgregor, it would have to be either of the top 3 ranked lightweights.
No Balls To Fight A Top Contender. @TheNotoriousMMA you’re washed up laddy. It’s Improper TUF 13 Bish’ 🌱 Champ Shit Only™️ You Will Always Be A Replica, Coward. Congrats On The Success # TheItalianJob ⚔️🕶 -CSO- 🇺🇸🏆🇲🇽 See you soon Leprechaun. -Champ 🕴 pic.twitter.com/n7KtctUNCv

In my own opinion, Conor Mcgregor is just calling out Dos Anjos to keep his name alive. This is all just a marketing ploy to keep his name valid. Mcgregor is still the biggest name in UFC but he needs to fight higher ranked fighters. Dos Anjos is a legit fighter but he is 2-4 in his last 6 fights. If Mcgregor decides to fight Manny Pacquiao then that means he is only interested in money and not legacy.
