If there was a Mount Rushmore of MMA, then Georges St-Pierre would be there. The Canadian UFC legend is the most successful welterweight ever and the most talented fighter of his generation. Officially retired, it’s just a shame that we never got to see him fight lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagamedov.

Khabib will fight Justin Gaethje in his 29th professional MMA fight but previously said that he will retire after 30 if he is still unbeaten. If that is true, then he will only have one more opponent. The Russian is a very rich man and isn’t motivated by money so the big question is who would he fight?

There are two names. First of all, you have a Conor McGregor rematch. This would be box-office for sure. However, the alternative is Khabib’s own dream fight against GSP. Would the Canadian return for this?

Fight to Make

UFC President Dana White spoke about Khabib’s future. The Dagestan native is currently on the sidelines after the tragic passing of his legendary father, Abdulmanap. But White is convinced that he will return and take on Gaethje in a lightweight title unification fight. But he believes that a rematch against Conor McGregor should be his next move.

“I don’t know, obviously he has got this Gaethje fight that is a done deal. He is fighting Gaethje next. I don’t know who his last fight would be to make him 30. No clue, I mean listen, Conor McGregor fight,” Dana White told ESPN.

“I know Conor has always wanted that fight since the last one, I mean that is the fight to make. I don’t know we will see how this all plays out. But, the Gaethje one is absolutely, positively the next fight for him.”

Open to GSP

All of a sudden, White is open to a GSP fight. He has resisted this in the past but is willing to consider it if Khabib commits to retiring after 30 fights. The UFC boss said that he likes the champion and would reward him if that’s the move he wants to make.

“Sure. Yeah, it’s the last fight of his career the guy, the guys been great. He’s been great to the company, he’s been great for the sport,” White said. “And, I like Khabib Nurmagomedov a lot and I would do anything Khabib wanted to do.”

Exciting Fight

St-Pierre himself says that the fight is exciting for him because it is a great challenge. He rejected Kamaru Usman because he has nothing left to prove at welterweight. Khabib has a special aura so ‘Rush’ would love to test himself against the Russian. He recently told TMZ Sports:

“Khabib was very exciting for me because, for a fighter, a fighter doesn’t think like a normal person. A fighter always wants to fight a guy who seems invincible, a guy who seems like the perfect fighter, who is unbeatable. He has an aura of invincibility. So, that means if I do it I’ll be the first to have ever done it. It’s not a question of money. It’s a question of glory, of self-accomplishment, of making it in a way that you’ll be in history forever, for myself.”
