Dana White was seriously unhappy after Amanda Nunes dropped out of UFC 213...

Dana White is typically ruthless in his explanation of Amanda Nunes pulling out of UFC 213…

Yesterday we saw a sequence of events unfold that pretty much shattered UFC 213. Just hours before the event was set to go down, women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes pulled out of the main event.

Originally scheduled to face Valentina in a rematch of their 2016 clash, Nunes withdrew suddenly. It was first reported that she was hospitalized, but later confirmed that Nunes had taken herself to the hospital for tests on Friday and Saturday afternoon.

Conflicting reports emerged in the hours after the news. Wherever the truth does lie, one thing remains, the UFC 213 main event was gone.

Dana White Says Nunes Will Never Be Main Event Again

When these situations arise, there are two directions the promoter can go. One is the supportive role, the other is the opposite, far more derogatory method. When we are talking about Dana White, the latter is often the case.

Concerning Amanda Nunes, the UFC president basically says she is mentally weak, and just didn’t want to fight.

Per MMAFighting.com:

“It was 90% mental and probably 10% physical,” White said. “A lot of fighters have had times they didn’t feel right and we’ve had guys who are outright sick.

“I don’t think I’ve ever had a situation like (this) where she was physically capable of fighting. I won’t do that again. I won’t main event (her) again.”

“Yesterday, she started to not feel good,” White said of Nunes. “We took her to the hospital and Dr. Davidson, whose our doctor here in Las Vegas, is fantastic, and handles all the fighters, did an evaluation on her and she was medically cleared to fight.”

“She Was Medically Cleared”

“So she [Nunes] did the weigh-ins yesterday – she made weight – she weighed in at ceremonial weigh-ins and squared off with Shevchenko, and then, went home last night. This morning she called again and said she didn’t feel good, so they brought her back in and started doing test on her and she said she didn’t want to fight. She was medically cleared to fight, she was checked and everything and was fine but she said she didn’t feel right.”

“She’s devastated, obviously,” White said of Shevchenko. “Not only go through a full camp but you come, the whole prep, cut the weight, you weigh in, and you go through everything, and the day of the fight, the fight is pulled out from you. So it’s very tough, but obviously, we’re going to take care of her and we’re going to look to make this fight again hopefully in Edmonton. We have a fight coming up in Edmonton, which I believe is in September, we’ll try to make the fight then.”
