It is strange to see a current UFC Champion not receiving PPV points in defending their belts. Many thought that the benefits of being a champion are getting PPV points which in turn means more money. That is not the case with Figueiredo’s past fights. The champion just received a fixed amount.
One of the reasons that Figueiredo would have gotten his last fight is because he basically saved the card. The card had two title fights but then was canceled. Both main-event fighters had a quick turnaround to save the UFC PPV Event since they were in need of a title fight.
After a potential fight of the year from Figueiredo vs Moreno, he had two wishes for the year 2021. The first one would be to get PPV Points, in the first place a UFC champion should have it as its perks, and with his last fantastic performance who would not give him?

“The guy was sick and still fought so the pay-per-view wouldn’t lose its main event. It was a draw, but saw it as a win for us, and now they said he deserves the pay-per-view. The UFC really values a complete athlete, one that sells. You can’t be good but not sell. That’s why selling matters so much. That’s what I always tell my athletes.”
Even if we discredit that the fight ended in a draw, Figueiredo had a fantastic year. He finished Joseph Benavidez twice and became the Flyweight champion and finished Alex Perez. All of those fights ended in one round.
The champion’s second wish may still be far-fetched but possible. His second wish is to fight former 2 division champion, Henry Cejudo. After his rematch with Moreno, he wants the UFC to make a BMF Belt for his potential super fight against Henry Cejudo.
It seems that Cejudo is always hinting at returning but the UFC is not interested in giving him the massive payday. The only way Cejudo might return is a big offer. These are only speculations, he may have retired because he achieved everything he needs. The only opponent he is interested in his return is Alexander Volkanovski. He has called out Jake Paul for a boxing match but some reports say that Paul is not interested.
