Please, just let this one happen…

Former Pride FC heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko has seen perhaps the most extended period of success at the elite level of MMA. The living legend fought during the Pride FC era, going undefeated for 10 years at one point.

But all good things must come to an end, and for ‘The Last Emperor’ it came in the form of some heart breaking finishes. First off he got submitted by Fabricio Werdum in the Strikeforce Grand Prix. That was way back in 2010, and was just the start of Fedor’s tribulations in the twilight of his career.

Then came the crushing knockout defeat to Dan Henderson, and the brutal TKO against Antonio Bigfoot Silva. It just looked as though Fedor had lost his motivation overnight, and was not the same fighter.

Following three wins against much lesser competition, Emelianenko retired in 2012, but it wouldn’t last long.

The return of Fedor was announced for the Rizin FF new years eve show in Japan, but it was a very unsatisfactory fight. Facing a completely unknown and overmatched Jaideep Singh, fans of Fedor even blushed in embarrassment at the ridiculous match making.

Currently booked to face UFC veteran Fabio Maldonado later this year in Russia, Fedor Emelianenko dropped the bombshell this afternoon, revealing he’s currently in negotiations with the UFC…
