3. Anderson Silva vs. GSP
Before Jon Jones came around GSP and Anderson Silva shared the top 2 spots in the pound-for-pound rankings. A fight between the two was talked about frequently while both were champions of their respective divisions, but the debate always came down to which weight class the fight would take place at.
GSP seemed very reluctant to go up to middleweight, and there was very little mention of Silva ever heading down a weight class. GSP would state that Anderson Silva would not be his first fight at middleweight and that he would need to take extended time away from the welterweight division to move up in weight.
With GSP’s pending return to the UFC and Silva still hanging on despite now being into his 40s, there is a small chance of this fight still happening. If it ever does occur now though, it would be far from the big fight it would have been when both were in their prime athletic years.
