UFC 200 took a big hit this past Wednesday July 7, as it was revealed that Jon Jones had failed a drug test. The interim champion was supposed to be fighting in a unification bout on July 9 against Daniel Cormier.

The news struck the mixed martial arts community like a scud missile, and suddenly the biggest card in UFC history was in jeopardy. Once again Jon Jones was in the driving seat for another car wreck, this time the victim was the blockbuster pay-per-view and the paying fans this weekend.

At first it appeared that nobody took the news harder than Jones himself. In a press conference addressing his failed USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) test, ‘Bones’ said the following:

“There’s a few things that have nothing to do with performance that I’ve tried. And, like I said, whatever it is, I can’t even pronounce it, I’ve never even heard of it, so I’m learning about it myself. Right now I’m just going through and thinking everything I’ve taken leading up to the fight, and we’re going through a process of getting everything figured out.”

Jones claims he’s never heard of the substance he failed the drug test for. Bombshell time; UFC president Dana White revealed that it wasn’t one, but actually two substances that ‘Bones’ got flagged for during the random dope screen.

As we await more information on both the banned substances and what the future holds for Jon Jones, see what impact this devastating turn of events had on Daniel Cormier…
