Many of his fights set financial and attendance records, including the first million-dollar gate. Dempsey is listed at number ten on most people’s list of all-time great heavyweights. He is listed in the top ten among the 100 greatest punchers in history.
Dempsey knocked out 44 opponents in his 75 pro fights. But unbeknownst to many, Dempsey rained in wrestling for quite some time and took up judo.
