3. Chuck Liddell KO’d into retirement by Rich Franklin
Chuck Liddell is one of those guys who would just keep fighting unless somebody stopped him. Dana White finally stopped him.
Liddell lost 5 of his last 6 fights, with 4 of those losses coming by way of the knockout. “Rampage” Jackson, Rashad Evans, “Shogun” Rua, and finally Rich Franklin all turned Liddell’s lights out before cooler heads prevailed and prevented Liddell from getting back inside the octagon.
To be fair to Liddell he was in the middle of a dog fight with Franklin when he got caught by Rich’s right hand; he was right there in the fight but at that point in his career he could no longer take a punch.
You can see it on the face of Franklin while he’s walking away after the fight; he knows he just ended Liddell’s career.
