So the USADA (United States Anti Doping Agency) drug testing came in to action last year, ready to clean up the muddy waters of the UFC. The world’s largest MMA promotion came in to 2015 in the midst of many high profile steroid scandals.
Anderson Silva was perhaps the most well known of many fighters to test positive for steroids, and he even tried arguing that he’d taken tainted viagra rather than just owning up. Legends were beginning to fall to the tests, and suddenly we were questioning some of the idols we’d looked up to.
So what’s the deal? Were all these guys using steroids to get these incredible performances inside the octagon? Maybe, but the truth is as simple as this; we may never know. One indicator that USADA now uses to determine who gets tested more is the ‘eye test.’
It’s as simple as it sounds, if someone looks like they are juicing, or gains some insane amounts of muscle in a very short time, the random dope tests will come in thick and fast.
Thankfully, it’s not only USADA who can use this test, we can too.
This article is not meant to accuse fighters of using steroids, it’s a simple observation of Five pictures of UFC fighters before and after the USADA testing came in mid-2015.
