4. B.J Penn

By the time you are reading this B.J Penn might be retired or he might not be, it sort of depends on the day.  Penn’s mixed martial arts game fell apart in 2010 after Frankie Edgar took the UFC LW title from him and he really should have stayed retired after losing to Nick Diaz at UFC 137.  After his fight with Diaz he told Joe Rogan he was done, that he couldn’t compete at the top level anymore, and he was right.

Most consider BJ Penn the greatest lightweight in UFC history, and at the time Frankie Edgar destroyed his confidence in their 1st fight he was coming off of a great performance in a win over Diego Sanchez at UFC 107.  After UFC 112 however, Penn just was never able to find his game again.  Since UFC 107 Penn’s record is a dismal 1-5-1.

Penn was scheduled to fight at UFC 199 but had to pull out because he used an IV after getting sick, something that is no longer allowed under the USADA testing.  He looked stiff and devoid of confidence in his last fight, a 3rd consecutive loss to Frankie Edgar on July 6th, 2014.
