Diaz Is Not In The Right Position

McGregor and Diaz have agreed to face each other again inside the Octagon somewhere down the road. McGregor stressed that it would no longer take place again at welterweight as he would like to have it at lightweight.

Diaz has fought the majority of his prizefighting career at 155-pounds and currently occupies the No. 5 spot in the UFC lightweight rankings.

If Diaz fights McGregor in a rubber match, the latter will have to put the UFC lightweight belt on the line.

At the moment, Diaz is not in the proper position to challenge McGregor for the division’s top prize. The UFC will need to bypass the likes of Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson in order to give Diaz a shot and that might backfire.

It will not create a good impression particularly on Nurmagomedov. The Russian has recently threatened to leave the UFC if he isn’t given a shot at McGregor.
