Georges St-Pierre shut down rumors about him joining UFC CEO Dana White’s superfight plans in 2024. And while this is disappointing for fans, the legend shared a glimmer of hope that he could still do grappling in case he heals “100%.”

Recently, White revealed the plan to put a superfight in the promotion, which resulted in questions about the fighters’ names that will be included in the event. This includes the name of “Rush,” who is regarded as the greatest fighter in mixed martial arts history, making him a relevant addition to the “superfight” event. However, the fighter already announced his official retirement in February 2019, and GSP wants to remind fans about it to clarify rumors about him entering White’s superfight plans. When asked about it, St-Pierre downright denied the possibility.

“Absolutely not,” St-Pierre during the UFC Fight Pass Invitational event. “I promise you, I always told myself that I will not fight in the cage after the age of 40. I don’t say I will never compete in any combat sport event, but a fight in a cage professionally in a serious thing for my legacy, I will not do it.”

During the event, St-Pierre admitted to still having the spirit to fight, which resulted in injuries. And although he reminded fans that he is now 42, Rush said there could still be a chance he would return to grappling.

“I’m extremely competitive and sometime I forget that I’m 42 years old and I don’t give myself enough rest and that’s why I think I partially tear my labrum, my subscap and my rotator cuff but my shoulder is getting better and we’ll see how it goes,” said GSP. “We’ll see how I recuperate from it because it depends how it’s going to heal, and I’m afraid that sometimes it leaves a scar or a chronic problem, and I don’t want that to happen. I want to make sure I heal 100% right before getting back into high-level training.”
