Perhaps the biggest fight money-wise in the lightweight division, Ryan Garcia vs Gervonta Davis the fight to make. With Ryan Garcia’s popularity on social media, it could easily generate high PPV numbers even if there are no major belts on the line. Gervonta Davis is known to have an entertaining style since he pretty much guarantees a devastating knockout.
In terms of the lightweight rankings, Ryan Garcia is higher ranked due to his big win against a bigger name Luke Campbell. The ranking is pretty much fair since he has a more impressive win compared to Tank’s win against Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Why it sells is because both fighters are popular even outside boxing. The feud is also there, they even cut a promo in front of Mike Tyson’s podcast. Ryan Garcia pretty much called out Gervonta Davis in a vintage Muhammad Ali style.

Ryan Garcia predicts that he will stop Tank Davis inside two rounds. The trash talk and publicity of both fighters will make the fight bigger than some title fights. When Canelo decided to leave the Golden Boy Promotions, Ryan Garcia could take over as their cash cow.
In Garcia’s fight against Campbell, he showed what he was made of and passed almost all tests with flying colors. The only flaw that was shown in his game was his defense. He showed true heart by coming back after a knockdown so early in the fight and even stunned Campbell before landing the devasting body shot.
The fight will be fireworks and a lot of what-ifs in the lead-up. Some say that Garcia will not be able to get up if Tank lands a punch clean, but the question is due to their size disparity will he be able to touch Garcia. Garcia uses his reach well and has a long frame for the division but his footwork lacks action sometimes where which Tank could exploit.
The fight will also sell due to their promoter’s big names. Floyd Mayweather markets Gervonta Davis as his prodigy and might even be able to surpass Mayweather’s records. Meanwhile, Garcia is managed by Mexican Legend Oscar De La Hoya. Both promoters have a rich history and had one of the biggest fights in boxing where Mayweather won by split decision.
It will be interesting to see another clash but with the new generations. Both fighters are in their prime shape and it will be an important fight to decide who will be the next face of boxing. The winner of the fight could fight another young champion which is either Devin Haney or Teofimo Lopez.
