Dan Ige entered the UFC Fight Night 236 cage with his wife in the middle of her labor. With this, the fighter didn’t waste much time in ending Andre Fili with a right-hand knockout in the first round of their fight.

The co-main event fight of the two didn’t last long, which was evident in the fast movements of the two in the initial part of the first round as both looked for openings. However, Ige saw the perfect chance when Fili tried to send a pawing left jab, which he countered with a right hand. This immediately sent the opponent to the ground, and Ige made another right hand to secure his position before casually walking away to acknowledge his victory.

After his fight, the No. 13 featherweight explained the reason that inspired his fast win, revealing his wife was laboring at the moment.

“She’s probably in labor right now, so I had to make that one quick,” Ige told Daniel Cormier in his post-fight interview.

The result reversed the situation of the two fighters. For Ige, this has brought him back to the winning column after experiencing a unanimous decision loss to Bryce Mitchell last September. As for “Touchy,” the fight brought him back the finish he gave to Lucas Almeida last December.
