Jamie Mullarkey will be facing Nasrat Haqparast this weekend. For “Hooligan,” the only acceptable thing to satisfy him in the bout is making a finish.
The two will be fighting on the main card of the UFC Fight Night 233, complementing the Song Yadong vs. Chris Gutierrez and Anthony Smith vs. Khalil Rountree bouts. The Australian is planning to make a memorable fight against his opponent by ending the bout with a finish.
Mullarkey boasts 10 wins by knockout, but only two of them are in the UFC, while his submission wins were obtained prior to his debut in the promotion. Yet, his plan is not impossible, especially if his record will be compared to his opponent’s achievements.
“I want to finish him,” Mullarkey said during the event’s pre-fight news conference this Wednesday. “I want to get this done in one if possible.
“I think being aggressive is going to be the key here. Establishing the center of the cage and fighting my fight. I want a finish. I won’t be happy unless I get a finish this Saturday, so I see myself getting my hand raised, but it’s going to be a fun fight. I think it’s going to be a fan-friendly one.”
Despite this, Mullarkey knows that the German opponent has something to offer. Yet, in the end, Mullarkey doesn’t want to think of Haqparast as any huge obstacle to his plan.
“He’s a solid, solid opponent,” Mullarkey said. “Fights with a high tempo, good skill. I don’t see as much of a danger factor with him, but everyone’s dangerous so, I got to be aware of that. But, very skillful fighter.”
