One Championship fans have another event to anticipate next year, with the promotion confirming the rematch between Jarred Brooks and Joshua Pacio. The two will be in the same situation again, fighting over the ONE strawweight MMA belt, which Brooks managed to snatch from Pacio back in 2022.
The bout of the two will mark One Championship’s debut in Qatar, with the event scheduled on March 1 next year. This will put the two in a rematch after first facing each other in December last year in Manila. At that time, the Filipino fighter tried to defend the gold against the American but ultimately failed after Brooks won via unanimous decision.
After this, both fighters took separate fights this year under One Championship but saw different results. After winning over Pacio, the champ experienced a loss at the hands of fellow American Mikey Musumeci via a first-round submission last August. Meanwhile, “The Passion” made a redeeming win last October through Russia’s Mansur Malachiev, whom he defeated via unanimous decision. With this, the two will soon find themselves again in the same cage next year at Lusail Sports Arena in Qatar.
The fight should appear as another easy fight for the former UFC fighter, who has an official four-fight winning streak under One Championship prior to his latest loss. Yet, Pacio has more experience in the promotion’s cage, achieving a handful of victories since 2016 and becoming a five-time ONE Strawweight MMA World Champion.
