Joshua Van is disappointed with how he achieved his success at UFC 295. Nonetheless, The Fearless hopes to have the finish he wants in his future fight and hopes to boost this bout’s number next year.
During the post-fight press conference of UFC 295, Van revisited his promised finish to the crowd. “I’m feeling great, but at the same time I feel a little bit of disappointment,” Van said at the conference. “Because last time I told you guys I was going to get the finish. We didn’t get the finish, so I guess next time for sure.”
Despite his regrets, Van admitted that the result was the outcome of how he handled the bout.
“The thing is I was trying to time his timing,” Van explained. “I was trying to get his timing right. So, I think I waited too long and that’s what got me messed up in the fight. Next time I’ll push the pace from the start to the finish.”
Van is not the only one unsatisfied with his success at UFC 295. During the conference, Steve Erceg also expressed the same sentiment after his opponent, Alessandro Costa, managed to cause him to drop.
And just like other fighters under UFC like John Castaneda, the 22-year-old wants to increase the number of his fights in 2024 after his two victories this year.
“What’s next for me is they told me I’ve got to wait seven days to fight, so I want to fight next week,” Van said. “But I want to stay as active as possible, you know, while I’m young.”
