A massive fight has been agreed to as Justin Gaethje will return to the Octagon and face fellow D1 wrestler, Michael Chandler. It is a fight that speaks VIOLENCE and that is what this fight guarantees. Both fighters never had a boring fight and would rather get knocked out than go on a decision.

Justin Gaethje’s last fight was his loss against Khabib Nurmagomedov, it may have been a tough pill to swallow but Khabib has said that Gaethje landed huge bombs. Many even thought that had it gone to the later rounds, Gaethje would have chopped Khabib’s leg up. Unfortunately once Khabib took him down, he had no answer to Khabib’s grappling.

As for Michael Chandler, he is also coming off a title fight loss against Charles Oliveira. Chandler was close to winning the title but Oliveira came back stronger in the second round and Chandler wasn’t able to protect himself once he got hurt.

Prior to booking for the vacant lightweight title fight, there were rumors that the UFC was planning to book Gaethje vs Chandler. It was just that Dustin Poirier chose to get the trilogy fight with Conor McGregor rather than a vacant title fight.

So the UFC needed someone coming off a win to fight for the vacant title, that guy is Michael Chandler. Many would say he doesn’t deserve to fight but due to circumstances, Chandler was at the right place at the right time. Tony Ferguson would call it “Dana White Privilege”.

Both fighters expect a knockout win or expect to get knocked out. As for the early betting odds, Gaethje opens as a slight favorite since he has better wins in the UFC while Chandler is 1-1 in his UFC career. Either way, the fight is guaranteed fireworks.

Now both fighters may come off a loss, but they are still a few wins away from a title shot. They are still considered a top contender for the already stacked division. Islam Makachev is on the rise and is ready to take back Khabib’s throne, Beneil Dariush is also a hot prospect that is on a long win streak.
