When talking about the best fighters in the UFC lightweight division today, there are three front-runners who come to mind. The first two, Khabib Nurmagomedova and Tony Ferguson, are obvious. Conor McGregor, however, is not a simple part of the equation.
There’s no doubt McGregor is an elite champion of the sport, but his track record at lightweight is just one fight. Add in the fact that was 18 months ago, he hasn’t competed in MMA since then and has now been stripped of the title.
In his place will be either Ferguson or Nurmagomedov after UFC 223. Officially, ‘El Cucuy’ is the interim champ, but the complications surrounding McGregor’s return have forced the UFC’s somewhat reluctant hand.
Khabib Offers Harrowing Statement
Even during his time away, ‘The Notorious’ has poked and prodded at his rivals in the lightweight and featherweight divisions. Social media posts of the Irishman mocking Max Holloway, Tony Ferguson, and Khabib Nurmagomedov have done the rounds.
Needless to say, ‘The Eagle’ is not a fan of either McGregor or Ferguson’s style of brash trash talk. During an interview with Ringside24.com, the undefeated wrestler discussed his rivalry with the other two top 155-pounders and had a brutal message for Tony.

There are two fighters (Conor McGregor and Tony Ferguson), which I dislike as individuals. Their trash talking is not only in words, but also in deeds. I do not like these people, and I will do everything to defeat them.
Of course, there is no underestimation, but when I grab his thin model waist, he can hardly do anything. Many say that he is good at the stand (up), he has dangerous elbows and so on. For me it’s interesting. In fight with him I will go out to death. I have no other choice. This fight will show which of us is the best.
But I can also demonstrate many things that no one else has seen. This makes our confrontation interesting.
